MARTIN, Tenn., Oct. 10, 2017 – ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME INDUCTS FIVE MEMBERS – Five members were inducted into the UT Martin Athletics Hall of Fame during the 34th annual Letter Winner’s Breakfast on Oct. 7 in conjunction with UT Martin Homecoming. (l-r) Cal Luther (basketball coach,1990-99), Jeffery Williams, accepting for his brother David Williams (football, 1974-77), Bryant Jones (baseball, 2001-04), Megan Williams Martin (softball, 2007-10) and Heather Tillson (rifle, 2005-09) were honored for their achievements. Luther is perhaps the most influential coach in UT Martin men’s basketball history, guiding the program through the NCAA Division-I reclassification process. Williams, who was inducted posthumously, was an eighth-round pick in the 1978 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons and held a team-high 57 tackles in 1976 and a team-best three interceptions in 1975. Jones is UT Martin’s only Division-I All-American in baseball, and Martin, UT Martin softball’s first-ever OVC Player of the Year in 2010, helped lead UT Martin to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009 and first-ever OVC championship in 2010. Tillson was an All-OVC performer in all four seasons at UT Martin, joining fellow hall of fame member Jaymi Collar as the only Skyhawk rifle team members to earn that status.
