UT Martin to celebrate Veterans Day with Commemoration Program on Nov. 11; Veterans Day Parade is Nov. 7 starting at Graham Stadium

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin will observe Veterans Day with a special program of speakers. A veteran’s information fair with light refreshments will begin at 3 p.m., Nov. 11, in the foyer outside Watkins Auditorium of the Boling University Center. The commemoration program will began at 4 p.m.

The 2015 program will focus on UT Martin’s support of combat veterans and their families. Speakers will include Dr. Leland Smith, combat veteran and visiting professor of business communication, and Lt. Col. J.R. Howard, professor of military science. One of UT Martin’s student veterans will also speak on what Nov. 11 means and how UT Martin helps support veterans and service members in their educational pursuits.

The Rolling Thunder, Tennessee chapter 6, will host a Veterans Day Parade beginning at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 7. Line-up will begin in the Hardy M. Graham Stadium parking lot at 9 a.m., and the parade will follow University Street to downtown Martin. All attending veterans will be offered transportation during the parade.

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held in Festival Park at the conclusion of the parade. Martin Auxiliary will then host a luncheon at the American Legion following the ceremony.
