Pat Head Summitt celebration of life service set for live webcast July 14 at UT Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. – The public is invited to attend a live webcast of a celebration of life service honoring the life and legacy of Pat Head Summitt beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 14, in the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Watkins Auditorium. The auditorium is located on the first floor of the Boling University Center.
The event will be webcast from Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus. Summitt, head coach emeritus of the UT Lady Vols, passed away June 28 at the age of 64 following a five-year battle with early onset dementia. Summitt played college basketball and earned her undergraduate degree at UT Martin.
Parking is available in lots on either side of Wayne Fisher Drive outside the Boling University Center and Paul Meek Library on Mt. Pelia Road. Chris Brinkley, voice of the UT Martin Skyhawks, will offer brief remarks to open and close the webcast.
A reception will be held in the university’s new welcome center following the webcast. Photos and memorabilia from Summitt’s life and coaching career will be displayed. The welcome center is located just outside the Watkins Auditorium lobby. The reception is also open to the public.
