4.6          FERPA

 

The University of Tennessee at Martin complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA; a.k.a. The Buckley Amendment) and the regulations set forth in the Solomon Amendment.

 

Tips to ensure faculty compliance include: 

·        Never post grades for students by the social security number of that student.

·        Never give out academic information to anyone over the phone. 

·        Never give out academic information in person to anyone except the student (with valid photo identification). 

·        Never give out directory information on a student who has been marked as confidential in the Banner Student Information System.
