SUBJECT: Course Drop Process AUTHORITY: VCAA EFFECTIVE: 8/1/01 REVISION: Purpose : To facilitate the drop process and make it parallel to the registration process . 1. The drop can be accomplished through the existing paper process during the entire semester. a. The drop form is completed by the student and approved by the faculty advisor. b. The signed drop form should be submitted by the student to the Registrar's Office. 2. The drop can also be completed on the computer by the faculty advisor in his/her office through the ninth week of the term. The computer drop is accomplished as follows: a. The Records Office will be responsible for setting the appropriate date in Banner so that advisors can use the computer to process drops. b. The Computer Center will generate a weekly report listing all students who drop below full-time status. The list will be sorted in numerical order, beginning with "0" hours, and sorted within hours by major. This report will be furnished to Deans, International Programs, Student Affairs, Business Affairs, Financial Aid, and the Registrar. c. When a student who is restricted to a minimum load (for example, 12 hours) desires to drop, the advisor must first call the Registrar to get the Limiting Hold removed. The drop can then be processed. After the drop is processed, the advisor must then call the Registrar back to get the hold reinstated. 3. If a student is dropping all classes, he/she should be referred to the Office of Student Affairs to process a withdrawal from the university. 4. Drops for nontraditional schedules and summer school drops must be processed according to item "1" above. |
