110-111 Understanding Dance (3, 3) General survey of the development of dance as an art form from primitive times to the present.

115 Beginning Tap Dance (2) Basic techniques of tap with emphasis on technique and rhythmical development of styles.

120 Contemporary Dance I (2) Analytical and practical study of beginning dance techniques. May be repeated for credit.

130 Ballet I (2) Introduction to the basic techniques of ballet. May be repeated for credit.

150 Dance Ensemble (2) Preparation and public performance of selected works of dance repertory. May be repeated for credit. Prereq: Instructor’s approval.

240 Choreography I (2) Use of rhythmic, spatial, and dynamic elements in designing dance movements. Current choreographic approaches. Prereq: Proficiency in dance and instructor’s approval.

310 Jazz Dance (2) Jazz styles and techniques. May be repeated for credit.

320 Contemporary Dance ll (2) A continuing study of dance vocabulary with emphasis on analysis and discipline. May be repeated for credit. Prereq: DANC 120.

330 Ballet II (2) Continuation of training in technical skills of classical ballet. May be repeated for credit.

350 Dance Ensemble (2) Preparation and public performance of selected works of dance repertory. May be repeated for credit. Prereq: Instructor’s approval.

351-451 Recital (2, 2) Special studio performance of indi-vidual choreographic project. May be repeated for credit.

390 (590) Dance Pedagogy (2) Concepts, methods, materials, and practice in teaching dance. Three studio hours per week. Prereq: Instructor’s approval.

401 (601) Special Projects in Dance (2) Directed individual study. May be repeated for credit.

405 International Dance (2) A studio course designed to develop the basic steps of ballroom, folk, square, and current social dance styles.

410 (610) Dance Improvisation (2) Principles of space, time, shape, and motion approached through improvisation within selected parameters. Three studio hours per week. May be repeated for credit. Prereq: DANC 120 or 320, 130 or 330, or instructor's approval.

420 Advanced Contemporary Dance (2) A continuing study of dance vocabulary with emphasis on intensive advanced level of contemporary dance technique.

440 (640) Choreography ll (2) Advanced techniques of dance composition. Prereq: DANC 240 and instructor’s approval.
