300 (500) Prevention of Athletic Injuries (4 - Fall) Development of a basic
understanding of athletic injuries to include pre-participation examination
guidelines, risk factors, strength, endurance, and body composition testing,
environmental conditions, maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities,
protective devices and taping. Lab included. Prereq: BIOL 110, ZOOL 200 or 251.
301 Evaluations of the Lower Body (3 - Spring) Evaluation of injuries that
occur to the lower body to include a review of the associated anatomy, etiology,
special tests for differential assessment, immediate action plan, and a referral
plan. Lab included. Prereq: ATRN 300, HLTH 320, ZOOL 201 or 252.

Evaluations of the Upper Body (3 - Fall) Evaluation of injuries that occur to the
upper body to include a review of the associated anatomy, etiology, special
tests for differential assessment, immediate action plan, and a referral plan.
Lab included. Prereq: ATRN 301, HLTH 320, ZOOL 201 or 252.

Athletic Training Clinical (1 - Fall) Supervised study and experience with a
certified athletic trainer at UTM Training Room or an approved clinical site.
Application must be approved one semester in advance. Prereq: ZOOL 200 (or
above).
311 Athletic Training Clinical (1 - Spring) Supervised study and
experience with a certified athletic trainer at UTM Training Room or an approved
clinical site. Application must be approved one semester in advance. Prereq:
ATRN 300 and 310, HPER 305, HLTH 320.
312 Athletic Training Clinical
(1 - Fall) Supervised study and experience with a certified athletic trainer at UTM
Training Room or an approved clinical site. Application must be approved one
semester in advance. Prereq: ATRN 301 and 311, HPER 207.
313 Athletic
Training Clinical (1 - Spring) Supervised study and experience with a certified
athletic trainer at UTM Training Room or an approved clinical site. Application
must be approved one semester in advance. Prereq: ATRN 302 and 312, HPER 430,
HLTH 303.
400 (600) Therapeutic Exercise (3 - Spring) Development of the
knowledge and the application of rehabilitation programs and techniques in
athletic injuries. Lab included. Prereq: ATRN 300, 301, and 302.

Therapeutic Modalities (3 - Fall) Development of knowledge, application, and use of
therapeutic modalities in the treatment of athletic injuries. Lab included.
Prereq: ATRN 300, 301, 302, and 400.
402 Health Care
Administration/Professional Development and Responsibility (3 - Spring) This course
is geared toward the student who wishes to pursue the National Athletic Training
Association certification exam; includes medical records and documentation,
legal issues, OSHA guidelines, organizational structure, drug testing and
protocols, purchasing equipment, inventory, insurance, certification examination
preparation, NATA background and information. Prereq: ATRN 300, 301, 302, 400
and 401.
491 Athletic Training Internship (3 - Fall) One semester work
experience with a cooperating agency. Application must be approved one semester
in advance. Prereq: ATRN 313; concurrent enrollment preferred in ATRN 401 and
HPER 432.
492 Athletic Training Internship (3 - Spring) One semester work
experience with a cooperating agency. Application must be approved one semester
in advance. Prereq: ATRN 491; concurrent enrollment preferred in HLTH 440 and
ATRN 402.
