Institution-wide accreditation is governed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the regional accrediting agency governed by the U.S. Department of Education. All SACSCOC member institutions undergo full review of accreditation every ten years and submit a fifth-year interim report between the decennial reviews.
The University of Tennessee at Martin is accredited by the SACSCOC to award baccalaureate and master’s degrees. The last UTM reaffirmation visit was conducted in February 2013, and in January 2014 the university received notification that reaffirmation was granted through 2023.
