The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Every ten years the University performs a self-study, the goal of which is to reaffirm that we meet the standards of accreditation set by SACS. The UTM reaffirmation visit was conducted in April of 2002. In January 2003 UTM was notified that reaffirmation was granted.
The primary purpose of the Self-Study was to objectively evaluate the University and develop a plan to improve its overall effectiveness consistent with its purpose. Through its self-study committees, the University conducted a broad-based, comprehensive, and analytical self-study. It identified and addressed the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving University goals, fulfilling its mission, and complying with SACS criteria.
