Brief History: The Home Economics Building, now known as the Holland McCombs Center, was the first building the University of Tennessee constructed after it purchased the Hall-Moody Institute and adjacent Woodley Farm in 1927. The building would serve primarily as classrooms and offices for the Home Economics Department from 1929 to 1970's. The building fell into disrepair in the early 1980's, but with a $100,000 donation from Holland McCombs the structure was remodeled and renamed. After its reopening in 1986, the building housed the College Museum and Archives. At present, the College Museum and Honors Program operate from the building.
