Instructor Assistance

The Paul Meek Library offers a variety of services to support distance education classes. Research assistance, library instruction, and document delivery services are available to off-campus instructors and students. On-campus instructors can receive help integrating library services into UTM distance education courses by contacting Steve Holt.

Please contact the Reference Staff at least 4 weeks before classes begin if you have specific information needs; advance notice is essential in order to provide certain services.

Library Instruction & Research Assistance Services

  • Library research instruction (students learn how to access and effectively use library resources)
  • In-class presentations by a Librarian (may not be available at all sites).

To check on availability of classrooms: Seminar Room
    Library Instruction Room

Course Reserves

Articles, lecture notes, book chapter, and other materials can be scanned into the Reserves database (Adobe Acrobat software) where students can read, print, or download materials. Passwords will be assigned to each class. The Paul Meek Library is operating under the "fair use" section of copyright laws, so entire books and journal issues cannot be scanned--only individual chapters or articles.

  • Please bring all materials to the Paul Meek Library Circulation desk. Our office will assist off-campus instructors in placing materials on reserve.
  • Contact Kent Page (731-587-7092 at night) or e-mail (kentpage@utm.edu) at the Paul Meek Library for questions regarding procedures and policies.
  • All reserve materials should be required readings for a specific class.
  • Deadline for submitting materials: Last week of the semester prior to the one when the course is taught. For example, materials needed for a summer class should be dropped off no later than the last week of spring semester classes. Materials can be placed on reserve after this deadline but may not be ready for the beginning of classes.
  • Passwords given to instructors can be put in course readings and will be available from the Paul Meek Library Circulation dept. Passwords must be entered in lowercase letters. Students can call 731-587-7092 or email if they need a password
