The College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences strives to focus on the following three areas to strengthen educational offerings to students: 1) increasing opportunities for experiential learning through workships, internships, and entrepreneurial projects; 2) broadening horizons through national and international travel in order to help students gain a greater understanding of peoples, cultures and the "world market;" and 3) participating in immersion opportunities for in-depth topical studies through research projects, special courses, and presentations at professional meetings.
In addition to students, CAAS has other important "customers." Those include K-12 students, such as elementary schools students touring the Agricultural Teaching Complex or high school FFA, FCCL (formerly FHA), and 4-H groups hosted on campus. Across the region, individuals and industry benefit from the CAAS. Public service projects range from personal demonstrations and research, addressing the concerns affecting West Tennessee farms, to educational assistance for developmentally delayed children and their families.
