The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) has as its primary mission the preparation of a diverse clientele of students through a variety of program offerings including teacher education of Pre-K through 12 students and other school service functions, as well as careers in public service areas such as business, government, social and psychological services, personnel management, and the criminal justice system. Those who continue academic study at the graduate level may pursue a degree leading to leadership licensure in education or an advanced degree in a wide range of occupations related to the behavioral sciences.

One vision for the CEBS includes the establishment of a Family Literacy Center, which would involve students and faculty from all departments working together collaboratively.  The center’s goal would be to teach literacy, life skills, and improve the quality of life for families and children alike, providing a positive and lasting impact on the community.   The establishment of this center at UT Martin would not only raise the standard of living in this region, but also would provide unique experiential learning opportunities for our students.
