The College of Humanities and Fine Arts strives to provide high-quality academic and professional programs consistent with the university's commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. These programs serve students who are majors and minors within the college, inculcating a “real world” capacity to use knowledge constructively and responsibly. Equally important, humanities and fine arts courses provide a critical foundation for students from other disciplines, increasing the students' intellectual, creative and civic competencies as they foster a climate of independent curiosity. Furthermore, through the art exhibitions, theatrical performances and musical activities of its faculty, guests and students, the college plays a central role in enhancing the cultural life of the region.
