Agriculture and Natural Resources
1. Plans are underway for an expansion of Brehm Hall with a planned occupancy date of August, 2008.
2. A bid was awarded Feb. 23 for the establishment of a West Tennessee Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. Planned occupancy date is Spring 2008. This is made possible by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
3. The Swine Research Buildings are being converted to alternate uses: West Tennessee Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (feed mill unit)
4. First field crop plots planted and harvested (ca. 300 acres) and continued for this year. - wheat : Stephen F. A ustin, Texas
8. A private gift has been received to be used as matching funds toward a possible Rural Business Enterprise Grant to expand the Smith Merchandising Center.
9. New restroom construction completed at teaching center headquarters building.
10. Apreso classroom delivery system installed in Brehm Room 258 which allows immediate and/or delayed delivery by internet. Jackson State Community College - received courses Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 Munford High School - will receive courses Fall, 2007
11. Agreement with Jackson State Community College to offer UTM courses at JSCC, Sara Youngerman is heading the JSCC program.
12. The fourth class of Tennessee Governor's School for the Agricultural Sciences has just completed on the UT Martin campus.
13. Total cumulative grant and contract activity to date for Center of Excellence is $1,489,615 and $2,388,915 including appropriated funds.
14. Hosted Biofuels Conference in February, 2007.
15. COE faculty had 30 professional presentations and 19 professional publications during Academic Year 2005-06.
16. Received first MobilDoc animal health processing unit in early October, two others at MTSU and Walters State - - through cooperation with Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
17. Received sheep and meat goat animal health and management processing unit in early October.
18. Three faculty members assisted in producing Master Meat Goat Producer manual.
19. Catfish and prawn harvest from demonstration ponds in early October.
20. Freshman class up about 25 percent for fall, 2006 - - 513 students registered in department.
21. Soils laboratory has relocated to Brehm Hall.
23. Computer laboratory remains in Clement Hall.
24. Hosting Youth Outdoor Wildlife Jamboree in October.
25. Hosting Southeast Wildlife Society Conclave next March.
26. Established agro-forestry demonstration area.
27. Established buffer zone along stream banks as part of CRP program.
28. Alumni group active with goal of $150,000 for livestock judging team endowment - - $11,500 raised at West Tennessee Angus Sale.
29. Multiple gifts under discussion for possible support of teaching center.
30. Wildlife Society won fourth place at recent conclave and named most outstanding chapter in the United States.
Family and Consumer Sciences
1.The department hosted another successful nutrition symposium on alternative medicine; there were approximately 60 R.D.s and dietetics professionals in attendance.
2.Ten dietetic interns and 2 undergraduate dietetic students attended Hill Day in Nashville in conjunction with the Tennessee Dietetic Association Meeting.
3.Ten interns made poster presentations at the Tennessee Dietetic Association Meeting.
4. Dr. Georgina Awipi made a presentation at the ADA Meeting in Hawaii.
5. Dr. Mira Ahn and 5 students attended the meeting and spring student event of the Nashville Chapter of the International Interior Design Association.
6. Six family and consumer sciences education students participated as judges for the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America District STAR Events.
7. Dr. Sue Byrd , Mrs. Lori Littleton , and 13 family and consumer sciences students participated in a travel study tour to London and France over spring break.
8. The department currently has several students participating in field experiences. One of the fashion merchandising students is working for a wholesale firm in Miami. Another of the FM students will be doing her field experience in Atlanta in the summer.
1. Four students graduated from the MSAOM program in Fall 2006 and Spring 2007:
2. Beginning Fall, 2007, the former MSAOM program will be the Master of Science in Agriculture and Natural Resources Systems Management (MSANR) program.

4. These three concentrations will provide more opportunities for graduate students in the MSANR program.
Nursing
1. A successful review by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission with no recommendations. The review was further approved by the Educational Review Board without recommendations.
2. The Nursing Graduates have achieved 100% past rate to date of all graduates.
3. The Department was awarded a grant from H.L. Maxedon for purchase of the SimMan and SimBaby which is the latest state-of-the-art computer teaching equipment.
4. 4 Publications: ( Gloria Browning, Nancy Warren, Shirley Fry, Mary Radford).
5. Grants: ( Esther Christian, Ruby Black have been active - - 3 grant programs).
6. Faculty working on terminal degrees: Peggy Davis - Saint Louis University Gloria Browning - University of New Mexico
7. District and State Officers in Professional Organizations: Ruby Lindsey Black is the President of Pi Tau Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and Vice President of the Tennessee Nurses Foundation. Nancy Warren is the President of District 10 Tennessee Nurses Association and a member of the Tennessee Nursing Association Board.
Military Science and Leadership
1. 1st Place Ranger Challenge, Div II.
2. Two cadets Commissioned as 2LTs in December.
3. Seven cadets attended Air Assault School.
4. One cadet attended Airborne School.
5. SFC Todd Landen joined the department in December.
6. SFC John Taylor has retired.
7. The battalion received commendable ratings during a recent Command Inspection.
