College of Education and Behavioral Sciences

Spring 2009

A Message From the Dean

We are halfway through spring semester during a year that has been difficult due to the economic situation in the country and the impact budget cuts have had on our campus. I made a statement in a college-wide faculty meeting that our faculty has continued to do what you do best, teach, complete a variety of service activities, and publish despite the bad economic news. This newsletter confirms that. I am so proud of the positive attitude shown by you as you work to assure our students get the best education. This college had recipients for two prestigious awards this academic year. Dr. Michelle Merwin is the Cunningham Outstanding Teacher/Scholar Award and Dr. Becky Cox is The University of Tennessee Alumni Outstanding Teacher Award.

Congratulations to all of you for a productive fall and spring! I appreciate what you do to promote the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, but I appreciate it all the more because I know you are putting your students and their best interests at the heart of everything you do!

~Dr. Mary Lee Hall
