- DVD copies of “Carnicus: Forty Years of UT Martin Tradition” are available through the UT Martin Bookstore. This 60-minute documentary film of the university's Carnicus, held between 1929-1969, features still photos, interviews and film footage. Three extra features include another hour of photo galleries and original silent film footage. Proceeds fund the UT Martin Alumni Library Endowment.
- A tour of China, planned June 4-18, will feature sites in Beijing and Shanghai, among others. Travelers will visit the Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Huaqing Hot Spring, Summer Palace, Xiashan Park, Bridge of Nine Turns, Shanghai Museum, Yu Gardens and Bazaar, several manufacturing facilities, the Terra Cotta soldiers in Xi'an and more. - Applications for summer and fall admission at the University of Tennessee at Martin have increased by 11 percent over the same period last year, according to the office of admissions. It is the third consecutive year that application numbers have increased. A recent report showed that by Jan. 1, 2006, 1,428 students had applied for admission to UT Martin, up from 1,280 by that date in 2005. Read more great news.

Tusks...

A chance encounter between James Clapper and an Alaskan riverbank netted a fossil find embedded in the bank for more than 10,000 years. The discovery of wooly mammoth tusks by the UT Martin alum and his father is now benefiting students in a UT Martin geoarchaeology class. Read more about this discovery...
