Policies

Conduct

This activity is planned, conducted by the UT Martin Departments of Music and Visual and Theatre Arts, in partnership with the Weakley County Schools. All participants are responsible for their conduct to the personnel supervising the activity or event. Specific guidelines for conduct include:

  • Participants shall full comply with all of the expectations for behavior and conduct set forth by the Student Handbook of the Weakley County Schools.
  • Participants shall participate fully in all programs outlined for the activity or event.
  • Participants shall show respect for the property and facilities used during the activity or event and assume financial responsibility for any damages they cause.
  • Participants’ conduct at all times shall be appropriate to the standards and image of the After School Arts Program.
  • Tobacco products, drugs, alcohol, weapons and fireworks will not be tolerated at any time during the After School Arts Program.

Parents and participants understand and accept the responsibility for following the above guidelines, and realize that failure to do so may result in a participant being sent home from the activity or event at his or her own expense.

Fees

The payment of an annual participation fee is required for students to enroll in the program. The breakdown of the fee structure is as follows:

  • $25 Music
  • $25 Visual Arts
  • $40 Music & Visual Arts

Scholarships

We believe that all students, regardless of finances, should have access to this program. If the fee is a financial hardship, you may apply for a scholarship on the registration form. Scholarships will be awarded with the advisement of Martin Middle School and the ASAP Directors.

Sports Practices

We believe all students have artistic aptitude. If your child participates in an after school sport, they are still eligible to participate in the program. We will work cooperatively with coaches and school administration to allow access to the ASAP to all students.

Communication

We will use Remind 101 and email as the primary tool for communicating with parents/guardians of participating students. In the event of inclement weather or school/instructor issues, we will notify students via the school announcements and parents/guardians via Remind 101. Additionally, announcements may be posted on the Martin Middle School Facebook page.

Calendar

The calendar for the ASAP will follow the semester calendar at UTM. A Google Calendar has been set up and you may click this link to sync it to the device of your choice. It includes class days/times as well as performances and exhibitions. While we will do our best to keep this calendar “fridge-worthy” each semester, sometimes changes are necessary. We respect your time and know you appreciate predictability, so any modifications to the calendar will be communicated as soon as possible.

Friends of Music

Friends of Music sponsors concerts, guest artists, and educational events on campus, provides scholarships for deserving music students and enhances the musical life of UT Martin students.
