The UT-Martin Bands offers something for everyone! We welcome your interest in The Skyhawk Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Basketball Band and Jazz Band.

 

Honor Band

 

Congratulations to the students and directors who participated in the 32nd Annual Honor Band. We look forward to welcoming you to the new fine arts building on campus next year.

Any current or incoming UTM student with band experience is eligible to receive scholarship with the completion of a successful audition.  Please contact Mr. Stratton to schedule a scholarship audition.

 

Guard

 

UTM Skyhawk Marching Band
Color Guard Camp & Auditions

 

Date: Saturday, April 14, 2012
Time: 1:00 – 7:00 PM (Registration begins at 12:45)
Where: UTM Campus – Elam Center

All those interested in auditioning for the Skyhawk Marching Band Color Guard need to attend this Camp/Audition. There are a limited number of scholarships available to those who are accepted as a member of the color guard for Fall 2012.

Attire for the day will be all black. Street shoes may not be worn. You must be in bare feet or some form of nude dance shoe (jazz boot, foot-undeez, etc). No jewelry is permitted. You are encouraged to wear your hair back away from your face.

Please bring the following items with you:

  • A current head shot (photo) of yourself attached to a typed 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper with the following information: Name, Age, Number of years of experience, High School attended (if you just graduated), any pertinent contact information
  • Rifle (for those with prior experience or are interested in learning)
  • Water and Snacks (if desired)

Required elements (include but are not limited to):
Across the floors and Basic Dance Techniques
Flag basics: Drop Spins & Pole Hits, Carves, Windmills, Thumb Spins, Double Fast, Vertical Tosses, Flat Tosses, and Angle Tosses
Flag routine
Weapons basics (for those interested in learning)
Weapons routine (for those with prior experience)

*Please note that all elements will be demonstrated and taught at this camp/audition and experience is not mandatory. Auditions are open to everyone.*

 

There will be a short meeting after the audition process. If you cannot attend the audition date please contact Mr. Stratton at the music department to set up an appointment.

Battery Percussion

 

April 28, 2012 Pre Summer Battery Session for the Fall 2012 Skyhawk Marching Percussion Section.

If you plan on trying out for the battery percussion section for Fall 2012, please try and attend this pre summer session. We'll begin at 9am and conclude at 3pm. Meet at the Boling University Center room 112.
Please bring sticks if you are trying out for snare or tenor drums. Bass drum mallets are provided.

A pizza lunch will be provided for you.
