
Numerous scholarships are available for criminal justice majors. Each spring, notices are posted and criminal justice faculty announce in their classes that scholarships are available. Criminal justice majors are encouraged and advised to apply for criminal justice scholarships through an application and selection process. The following scholarships are available to criminal justice majors:
Instructions to apply for the scholarships
The Eddie Hammond Jr. Scholarship
The Eddie Hammond Jr. Scholarship is awarded to criminal justice majors from Shelby County (1st preference) or Tipton or Fayette Counties (2nd preference). A total of $1,750 in scholarship funds each year have been awarded to a single (one $1,750 scholarship) or multiple award winners (dividing $1,750 among two or more students).
The Robert Brunner Scholarship
The Robert Brunner Scholarship is awarded to criminal justice majors who are full-time and/or part-time law enforcement officers (anticipated $1,000 award).
The Joey McDowell/West Tennessee Criminal Investigators Scholarship
The Joey McDowell/West Tennessee Criminal Investigators Scholarship is awarded to a criminal justice major who has children and/or relatives that are members of the West Tennessee Criminal Investigators Association (anticipated $500 award).
The Tennessee Association of College and University Security Administrators Scholarship
The Tennessee Association of College and University Security Administrators Scholarship was first awarded in 2005-06. It is available to juniors and seniors majoring in criminal justice. There is no GPA requirement and no financial need requirement (maximum amount $500).
