LTC Wright retired in June 2007 after 24 years of service as an Armor officer. His military experience included OIF III deployment in 2006 as a Military Transition Team member in support of the Iraqi Army HQs.  His assignment at the time of his retirement was as the Chief of Armor and Cavalry Doctrine, Fort Knox KY. Prior to this he was the 1st ATB Deputy Commander 2003-2005.  From 2002-2004 he was the Chief Observer-Trainer, C Team, BCTP Fort Leavenworth, KS.  From July 2000 to July 2001 he served as a watch officer in the Pentagon’s Army Operations Center. He was the Planning Group Chief for the Commanding General, U.S. Army Armor Center and Fort Knox August 1998 to July 2000.   He was commissioned in Armor from the United States Military Academy in 1983.  He was an M60A1 and later M1 tank platoon leader, tank company executive officer and assistant battalion S-3 in 1/8 Cavalry of the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood Texas.   He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division, U.S. Army Europe from 1987 to 1991.  In the 3rd AD he served as a tank battalion S-4, tank company commander and headquarters and headquarters company commander to include duty as part of Operations DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM.  LTC Wright then served as an observer-controller on the Armor Task Force Training team at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin 1991-1993 and was then assigned as a Small Group Instructor in the Infantry Officer Advanced Course until 1995.  He served from 1995-1997 as the U.S. Army TRADOC Liaison to the Israeli Defense Forces.    From 1997 until August of 1998 he was the battalion operations officer and later executive officer for 2-81 Armor (19K OSUT) of Fort Knox’s 1st Armor Training Brigade. 

 

LTC Wright’s military education includes the Armor Officer Basic, Mortar Platoon Leader, Armor Officer Advanced, Airborne, and Command and General Staff College.  He was awarded a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Louisville in May 2007. 

 

LTC Wrights awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medallion, Meritorious Service Medal (8 awards), Army Commendation and Army Achievement Medals.   He has been awarded the U.S. Army and Israeli Defense Force Parachutist badges.

 

LTC Wright is married to the former Robyn Dickens, who is a civil service employee for the Director of Resource Management on Fort Benning, GA.  Kevin and Robyn maintain a home in Cataula, GA.  LTC Wright has three children:  John (22), Stephen (19) and Caitlin (17) who live in Wichita Falls Texas and a step-son Stephen Powell (29) working as Facilities Director, University of Florida.
