Scholarship Information

Selection Criteria at UTM:

Criteria for selection of students to be awarded scholarships include: Application for financial aid is on file with the Financial Aid Office and the Department of Nursing, need as determined by the ACT financial statement analysis, adhere to any stipulation of the scholarship, successfully completed two semesters of clinical nursing, grade of at least a C in each required course, demonstrate the potential for completing the program, demonstrate the potential of contributing to nursing, and unusual circumstances. Applications should be submitted to the Department of Nursing by November 1.

Other Nursing Scholarships (independent of UTM):

 

Jearline Deweese Memorial Scholarship Award is established in honor of her memory to support and encourage prospective nursing professionals who are accepted for admission to an approved NLN Accredited Baccalaureate Degree granting Institution. The Jearline Deweese Memorial Scholarship will provide three scholarships annually. (Deadline April 28th)

Application and Criteria for the Jearline Deweese Memorial Scholarship

 

Tennessee League for Nursing and Dorothy Hocker Student Scholarship
Provides a scholarship of $500 to students meeting the following criteria: Have a financial need as evidenced by Dean or Director of his/her school, plan to work in Tennessee a minimum of one year following graduation, recommendation from Dean or Director of school of nursing and one faculty member who has directly supervised the student's clinical work, and submit a letter indicating future professional goals as R.N. Application must be submitted by March 1. Sent to: Tennessee League for Nursing Awards Committee, Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, TN 37760.

 

Methodist Healthcare Volunteer Hospital Scholarship, Martin, TN
Is awarded to a junior level student willing to work at Methodist six months for every semester of scholarship received. The Administrator and Director of Nursing at the hospital must interview the student.

Area hospitals offer scholarships to their employees or those interested in future employment. Contact the hospital for specific guidelines. These include, but not limited to the following: Baptist Memorial Hospital Nursing Student Scholarship Loan, Union City, TN; Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Jackson, TN; Methodist Lebonhuer Regional Hospital of Jackson; Baptist Memorial Hospital Huntingdon, TN; and Murray-Calloway County Hospital, Murray, KY.
