2010 Campus Recreation
Guidelines for Play
1. In intramural tennis tournament play, matches will be determined by using a PRO SET. A PRO SET is played to eight games. The first player or team to reach eight games won by a margin of two or more games is declared the winner of the match. If both teams or players play to an 8 game tie, a tie breaker will be played to seven points. The first team or player to reach seven points by a margin of 2 or more points is declared the winner (add scoring will be used in games).
2. At each match, each player or team will supply a new can of tennis balls. One can of balls will be used for the match. The winning team or player will retain the can of balls not used for the next match. The loser of the match will keep the used can of balls.
3. All matches are to be self officiated and we encourage all players to exercise the highest standard of sportsmanship. Competition is at its best when all participants work to maintain the integrity and spirit of the sport. Playing to win and maintaining personal character means everything. Winning at the expense of one’s character diminishes anything that is positive about competing. When in doubt, give the benefit of the doubt or play it over. (A Campus Recreation supervisor will be on duty to clarify and problems).
4. It is the responsibility of the winning team to report match results to the Officials (Campus Rec. Staff) at the table area.
5. It is your responsibility to know when you are to play you next scheduled match. Game time is forfeit time.
6.
