Become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard and be trained in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED. All participants must be 15 years of age or older and must pass a pretest, which includes a 300-yard swim, a timed 10 lb. weight test and 2 minute tread using only your legs. The cost of this class is $210 and the certification is valid for 2 years. Space is limited to 10 individuals per class. All registration must be done by contacting Shelley Stout at (731) 881-7718.

The Office of Campus Recreation hires lifeguards year-round. The application process requires two steps. The first step for interested lifeguards is to go online at http://app.perfectforms.com/player.htm?f=8U1AAg0I and fill out a job application. The second step is to contact Shelley Stout (Aquatics Coordinator) at email@example.com or call (731) 881-7718 and set up a skills test/interview for the position. During the skills test you are asked to swim 300-yards and perform a few basic rescues such as active and passive victim rescue, removal from water, and back board skills.
