| Education Student Services Mission Statement Educational planning is a prerequisite to student success and the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences is committed to the shared responsibility of faculty, students, and administration toward this goal. The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences maintains an Office of Education Student Services which serves as a support unit for assisting students and faculty in the areas of advisement and program planning, directed field experiences, student recruitment, student scholarship awards, and certification/licensure requests. Two faculty members, two graduate assistants and a secretary compose the staff of the office.
Quality program planning is based on a unique educational plan for the student requiring dialogue between advisers and students to ascertain goals, needs and interests. Advising is an opportunity for faculty to articulate the meaning and purpose of a liberal education and assist the student in integrating his/her major into a program of holistic education.
The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences believes strongly that interaction between faculty and students is an integral part of professional responsibility and consider accessibility, dissemination of specific and accurate information, willingness to recommend, challenge, and encourage students to discover answers to their questions, and ability in fostering positive personal relationships to be critical to the organizational structure as a mechanism for providing accountability.
The Office is located in Gooch Hall, Room 205 and is open from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on a daily basis.
