| Careers in Sociology With a bachelor's degree in sociology, you will be prepared for a wide range of jobs. Sociology graduates work in business, government, human services, health care, and educational settings. The liberal arts foundation of the sociology curriculum provides a strong base from which students can apply their sociological knowledge. Also, since sociology majors are trained in statistics, research design, and data analysis, they are particularly well suited for support positions in policy analysis, program evaluation, and similar positions.
Sociology majors may decide to go to graduate school to further their education. Besides master's and doctoral programs in sociology, you may choose to get degrees in fields like social work, public health, law, medicine, health education, counseling, public policy, marketing, occupational therapy, or business.
