OBJECTIVES
To develop the pupil to live co-operatively with any group of which he is or may be a member
To teach the pupil to understand the contribution of the past that he may better understand and make adjustments to the present
To teach the pupil to respect the opinion of others
To develop a sense of responsibility toward himself, his family, and his government
To develop in the pupil a desire to keep abreast of social and economic problems in the community, state, nation, and world
To develop a responsibility for the conservation of our natural resources
To develop in the pupil respect for public and personal property
To provide experiences of a spiritual nature
To develop in pupils faith in God, in themselves, and in their fellowmen
To develop in pupils a desire and ability to do high quality work in all undertakings
To teach pupils to persevere in any undertaking
To teach pupils to have a high regard for honest work
To teach pupils how to think and to recognize what is worth thinking about
To teach pupils to meet problems, to analyze them, to make correct conclusions and adaptations
To develop within the individual the desire to do something creative
To teach pupils to live healthy lives and to practice good health habits
To help the student to develop a more nearly perfect spoken and written English and the computations he is expected to need in life
To give the many-talented and the one-talented a chance to develop those native abilities in such a way that they may find a worth-while place in our society
To impress upon the pupil the importance of a vocation that contributes to the welfare of the community
To assist each pupil in discovering the life channel to which he is best-fitted
To teach pupils to make wise use of leisure time
To teach pupils to respect constituted authority (Visiting Committee, 1950, pp. 15-17).
