The following list shows links where I've found pictures of birds of various orders, especially orders that are NOT found locally and are not represented in the skin collection of the Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Tennessee at Martin. Note that the pages have different purposes -- some are educational, some are about conservation, some are selling pictures, some are advertising other businesses (tropical tours, for example.) I do not endorse any of the causes or businesses of these sites and have not verified the accuracy of any of them; my only purpose in presenting these links is to allow students of ornithology to see pictures of various birds. Also, since I have not control over these sites, I can't guarantee that they won't change.
First, here are some links to pages that lead to a variety of different bird pictures:
The University of Michigan Animal Diversity Web Bird Pages -- some have pictures, some don't.
Creagrus-- a page by Don Robinson; the ultimate goal of the page is to show bird pictures from all bird families of the world. Not complete, but does have many bird pictures.
Birds Down Under Gallery -- pictures of various Australian species, including a number of members of the Psittaciformes (cockatoos, parrots, etc.) as well as other species. Pictures are small; clicking on some takes you to a larger version but this doesn't work for all of them.
ZooNet Picture Gallery -- includes many animal pictures; click on "Birds and Fowl" to get to the list of bird species. Many good picture.
Zoo in the Wild -- has links to various African and European bird species (note: some text is in Italian)
