The UTM engineering program began in 1946 as a 2-year transfer program. The UT Board of Trustees approved the granting of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BSET) degree in 1968. The BSET degree was discontinued in 1996 with the approval of the current Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree. The BSE has been fully accredited by ABET-EAC since 1998. There are approximately 270 students enrolled in the program where they can study concentration is Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical engineering. The program emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical applications thru hand-on laboratory experiments, state-of-the art computer software, and real-world projects. In order to graduate, students must pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE exam), the first step toward becoming a Licensed Professional Engineer. Upon graduation, the engineering specialty is recorded on the student's final transcript. |

| Engineering Resources | |
The engineering courses at UT Martin are offered in modern classroom settings, with state-of-the-art computer laboratories, hands-on teaching laboratories, and a dedicated student project development lab. Our engineering students enjoy being involved in student projects that allow them to apply the theoretical concepts that they learn in the classroom. There are also several opportunities for students to work within the engineering department. The engineering department has a full time electronics technician and a full time administrative assistant. They help keep the department running smoothly. |
