UT Martin GIS Certificate Program
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-related technologies have become integral to many disciplines, including agriculture and the geosciences. Thus, many students majoring in agriculture, the geosciences, natural resources management, and other degree programs can potentially benefit from GIS-related courses offered by both colleges. The creation of an optional UT Martin GIS Certificate program provides an incentive for students who have an interest in GIS to complete a multidisciplinary and complementary group of courses above the minimum requirements for their respective degrees.
The UT Martin GIS Certificate provides both academic and experiential knowledge necessary to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the field of GIS. This skill set will allow holders of the UT Martin GIS Certificate to better market themselves to future employers, while providing an excellent platform for graduate studies.
A GIS Certificate is issued to students who complete the following requirements:
Note: Research projects undertaken through these courses must involve significant application of GIS-related technology. To ensure the integrity of the certificate, recipients of the UT Martin GIS Certificate must achieve an final grade point average of 3.0/4.0 for all certificate coursework, with no certificate course letter grade lower than “C.”
