<< Built in 1928, the Tennessee Theatre is located on 604 South Gay Street in Knoxville.
Considered by some as the premier theatre house in the state, the Tennessee Theatre has been the site of eight world premiers. Its breathtaking architectural design includes a grand lobby that is equal in size to half a block and an auditorium that seats over 2000 theatre goers. Recently reopened at the beginning of 2005, the theatre has been undergoing extensive renovation since 2000, costing almost $27 million.
Major redevelopment of cultural buildings can have a very promising effect on possible urban downtown dwellers who are typically young and well educated.
