Geography/Travel Tourism Program: Laboratories and Specialized Equipment
The Geography/Travel-Tourism programs maintain the following ...
- a 15-station Geographic Information System/Remote Sensing/Cartography computer laboratory . This lab includes a Drawing Board III large-format digitizer, an HP large-format printer/plotter, a flatbed scanner, a laser printer, and several color inkjet printers. Software on the lab computers include ArcView 3.2, Idrisi32, and Corel Designer.
- a Davis Weather Monitor III Remote Weather Station , positioned on the roof of Johnson EPS building, continuously collects data on temperature, wind, precipitation, barometric pressure, and humidity. A downlink between the weather station and a computer in the GIS laboratory utilizes Weatherlink, a weather analysis software package. Weather data from other stations is also collected from internet sources and downloaded to a PC in the lab with Digital Atmosphere software.
