The University of Tennessee at Martin Pre-Professional Health Sciences Program

Congratulations! You have decided to explore a future in science and health. We highly recommend that you take the following steps before making a final decision:

•  Spend some time at the http://www.explorehealthcareers.org website

•  Talk to a professional in the career of your choice

•  When possible get some volunteer or working experience

•  Join HOSA (www.hosa.org) or other related health organizations

•  Start preparing academically-see the Six Keys article

•  Contact a health professions advisor.

Students entering any pre-professional program at UT Martin should first speak to the Coordinator for the Pre-Professional Health Sciences Program. At that time, he/she will discuss choosing a major and getting an advisor.  He/she will then be sent to the department of their major and be assigned an advisor.

All Pre-Health students are included in a Pre-Health email group so they can recieve important information and announcements from the Pre-Health program.  It is important to register with the Pre-Health Program to have your email address placed on the list.  Observation experiences and work opportunities are just some of the things announced on the email group.
