
Brian John Melody
April 16, 1952 - March 17, 2004
Brian Melody has passed away after a courageous
battle with metastatic colon cancer.
Brian, a 1980 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, was a
brilliant scientist known throughout the electrolytic capacitor industry as a
major contributor to the advancement of electrolyte chemistry, dielectric
science, and overall capacitor technology.
Brian Melody devoted most of his professional career to understanding
the science behind electrolytic capacitors.
Brian is credited with many significant contributions to the capacitor
industry as evidenced by numerous technical papers, over 40 patents, and very
successful careers at Mallory, Hilton, and KEMET. People like Brian Melody come along only once in a lifetime. His colleagues, friends, and family, will
sorely miss his intellect, integrity, and devotion to his chosen craft. The world is a better place for having known
Brian Melody. His accomplishments, his
ideals, and his influence on the people he touched in this industry, and in his
personal life, will continue to live on even though he no longer walks among
us. Brian Melody, husband, father,
scientist, and decent human being... we will miss you.
