Dr. Richard Robinson

Radio Broadcasting and Public Relations

Dr. Richard Robinson worked in the radio industry for over 19 years, including roles as on-air talent, news, sales and programming. He also worked professionally in governmental public relations for 14 years in the state of Arkansas. Robinson serves as the faculty advisor for WUTM-FM 90.3, the award-winning UT Martin student-operated campus radio station. Since he joined the UT Martin Communications Department in 2001, both the station and the students who work there have received more than 200 awards in state, regional, national and international competitions. Robinson was named the 2007 University of Tennessee National Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher of the Year and has been named an Outstanding Educator at UT Martin twice, in addition to other awards. He teaches courses in broadcasting, public relations and public speaking. Dr. Robinson works as a broadcast, public relations and political communication consultant and does commercial voiceover work. His research interests include media history, propaganda and media effects.
