Radio Broadcasting and Public Relations
Dr. Richard Robinson has worked in the radio industry for over 19 years, including roles as on-air talent, news, sales and programming. He also worked professionally in governmental public relations for 14 years for the state of Arkansas. Robinson serves as the faculty advisor for WUTM-FM 90.3, the award-winning UT Martin student-operated campus radio station. Both the station and the students who work there have received numerous awards in state, regional and national competitions. He was named the 2007 University of Tennessee National Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher of the Year and has been named an Outstanding Educator at UT Martin twice, in addition to other awards. He joined the Communications Department at UT Martin in 2001. Dr. Robinson also works as a broadcast, public relations and political communication consultant. His research interests include media history, propaganda and media effects.
