Although VisCom is the newest sequence in the Communications Department, the visual communication skills it provides have been fundamental to mass communication for some time in the areas of photojournalism, print layout/design and web design and maintenance. Cutting-edge career options are many, varied and expanding within all facets of the mass media and in PR. Besides finding opportunities to work as photojournalists or page designers on weekly or daily newspapers, our graduates may land their first jobs in layout/design with organizational and professional newsletters, national, regional and local magazines, trade periodicals and World Wide Web news or other publications. Many corporations value the skills our Department teaches in this exciting new area, augmented with our state-of-the-art technology and software.
