Instructions for Application for Proficiency Examination

Please access the link below to print out the Proficiency Credit Application and prepare one original application for each course in which you wish to receive credit by completing the HIGHLIGHTED (BOLDED) AREAS ONLY.

 

Graduates of the TLETA Basic Police School may receive academic credit in any or all of the following UT Martin courses:

  • CJ 300 Principles of Law Enforcement (3 hours)
  • CJ 312 Physical Training and Use of Force (3 hours)
  • CJ 320 Criminal Procedure (3 hours)
  • CJ 470 Tennessee Criminal Law (3 hours)

 

Graduates of the Tennessee Correction Academy may receive academic credit in one or both of the following UT Martin courses:

  • CJ 311 Correctional Security (3 hours)
  • CJ 311 Physical Trianing and Use of Force (3 hours)

Please enclose a check or money order in the amount of $30 for each course in which you wish to receive credit, payable to UT Martin, or you may enclose a contact number and the Bursar will call you to arrange for credit card payment.

NFA Collegiate Program

The University of Tennessee at Martin has partnered with the Law Enforcement Innovation Center (LEIC), an agency of the UT Institute for Public Service, to offer the National Forensic Academy (NFA) Collegiate Program which will provide criminal justice students with an opportunity to earn 9 hours of undergraduate credit

The Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Commission has approved the following courses offered at The University of Tennessee at Martin as satisfying the POST annual in-service training requirements for law enforcement officers in the State of Tennessee.
