Extended Campus and Online Studies – Frequently Asked Questions

 

Before completing any paperwork for the healthcare programs, please read the following.


1. Do I need to fill out a FAFSA?

No. Federal Student Aid does not cover these programs.

 

2. Can I get a Pell Grant?

No. Federal Pell Grants do not cover these programs.


3. What financial assistance is available? Who can I talk to about financial aid?
The UT Martin Office of Financial Aid does not provide assistance for these programs.


The only financial assistance is available through:
WIA – Workforce Investment Act – qualified applicants may receive financial assistance through their county WIA office.

4. When can I submit my application for the program?
We cannot accept your application for the program until you have payment or verification of payment. Completed applications are submitted to the UT Martin Office of Extended Campus and Continuing Education (ECCE) at: 110 Gooch Hall, UT Martin, Martin, TN 38238.


5. If I pass the class am I certified?
No. You will receive a Certificate of Completion for successfully completing the program. Many of the programs require passing a national exam before you receive certification. The course will prepare you for the certification exam.


6. Will I get a job?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: “For workers who have an interest in science and in helping people, healthcare occupations are expected to provide some of the most plentiful and highest paying career opportunities. Overall, healthcare occupations are projected to provide nearly 3 million job openings between 2002 and 2012 for workers who don’t have a bachelor’s degree.” Check with local clinics, pharmacies, and hospitals to see if they have job openings.


7. How much will I make?
Salary varies by location and occupation. Check with your local clinics, hospitals and pharmacies to see what they are paying.
