Extended Campus and Online Studies – Grants

 

RUS Grant

  • SY 2008-09 & 2007-08:  STEP Grant.  Awarded $24,500 for the 1st year and $24,500 for the 2nd year.  The Success in Teacher Education Program (STEP) project is a collaborative effort among the University of Tennessee at Martin, Dyersburg State Community College, and the Lauderdale County School System to recruit, prepare, and retain minority teaching candidates.  The program design will emphasize intentional recruiting strategies and individually designed academic success strategies.  The intended outcome of Project STEP is the placement of more minority teachers in local school systems in rural, West Tennessee.
  • 2007:  Tennessee State Library and Archives Direct Services Grant, "Read to Me-Obion County".  Total Award-$14,000.  Partnered with Obion County Public library. 
  • 2006:  Pending-Veterens Upward Bound ($1.3 million);  partners include JSCC, DSCC, TTC in West TN; awaiting award announcement.
  • SY 2003-04:  RUS Grant.  Awarded $760,000 by Department of Agriculture Telecommunications.  Established five interactive video/computer classrooms at high schools located throughout rural West TN to deliver interactive video and online courses, programs, and training. 
  • SY 2003-04: NAP Grant. Nutrition Awareness Program Awarded $270,000 renewable grant from the US Department of Agriculture through the Tennessee Department of Food and Nutrition Services.  Conducting nutrition training focused on Tennessee food stamp recipients, and administrators of the food stamp program.  The program offers both on-site and interactive video instructional mediums.
  • SY 2003-04:  HHS Grant.  TITAN Awarded $2.3 million by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service.  Two-year grant to conduct bio-terrorism awareness, preparedness, and response training to Health-Care Professionals/Emergency Medical Staff & Physicians/EMS throughout Tennessee using interactive video and onsite facilities-Tennessee Integrated Training and Alert Network (TITAN). 
  • SY 2000-01:  TOP Grant.  Awarded $700,000 by the Technology Opportunities Program, National Telecommunications Information Administration, Dept. of Commerce.  Established distance learning sites in six rural counties to develop/deliver ITV/online courses for Head Start Instructors, teachers, child care providers, and HS students.
  • SY 1997-98"  RUS Grant.  Awarded $90,000.  Grant by Department of Agriculture Telecommunications-Established interactive video classroom at UT Martin Selmer/McNairy County Center.
