Technology to Commit-Technology to Convict (TC2)
Combating Crime in Rural West Tennessee
On February 17, 2009, the President signed into law H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The bill includes more than $2.76 billion for state and local law enforcement and for other criminal justice activities that prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system. The Office of Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP) in Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration has been designated as the state agency responsible for administering a portion of these criminal justice system funds through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
The Office of Criminal Justice Programs has awarded UT Martin an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Justice Assistance Grant Award.
UT Martin will be offering a free 24 hour program designed to better prepare rural law enforcement officers with combating today's modern criminality to protect the communities they serve. The course was developed to meet today's challenges in law enforcement. This course will encompass 2 days of intense training and then reconvene approximately 60 days later to review lessons learned, problems encountered and develop strategies to encounter service demands.
