Dr. Kelli Deere became the Director of the UT Martin Parsons Center in June 2012. Before coming to UTM Parsons, she taught 12 years at West Carroll and Caywood Elementary Schools where she was a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Music. Deere was selected as Teacher of the Year for Caywood Elementary in 2005 and VFW District 8 Teacher of the Year for 2012. Since coming to UT Martin, Deere was named the Outstanding Employee of the Year in spring 2017 and to the Jackson Sun's Top 40 under 40 Leadership Class. She serves on the West Star Leadership Board of Trustees and the United Way of West Tennessee Board of Directors and Women's Leadership Council. She is married to Neal and has one daughter, Molli Beth. Dr. Deere is a graduate of Union University where she holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
