Interdisciplinary - Special Education
Interdisciplinary- Advanced Special Education concentration requirements:
SPED 690 – Workshop in SPED Research – Single Subject Design 3 hrs.
SPED 690 – Workshop in SPED: Advanced Methods in (Emphasis) 3 hrs.
SPED 710 – Advanced Practicum 6 hrs.
SPED 720 – Language Dev. Disorders School Age Child 3 hrs.
SPED 730 – Current Topics in Special Education 3 hrs.
NOTE: Individuals interested in this interdisciplinary option must already be licensed to teach special education and have taught in the Special Education classroom for at least one year. Students must select an emphasis in one of the following areas: Cross Categorical Mild Disabilities, Learning Disabilities or Emotionally Disturbed.
Interdisciplinary - Special Education “endorsement” requirements:
SPED 615 – Characteristics and Needs of Children with Disabilities OR
SPED 640 – Advanced Methods 3 hrs.
SPED 620 – Language Development and Disorders 3 hrs.
SPED 637 – Assessment 3 hrs.
SPED 660 – Behavior Interventions 3 hrs.
SPED 710 – Advanced Practicum 6 hrs.
NOTE: Individuals interested in this interdisciplinary option must already be licensed to teach. The coursework listed above is designed to give individuals the necessary content to add on the special education K-12 endorsement once all required Praxis Exams are passed. Should an individual wish to add PreK Special Education, they must also complete SPED 630 and one additional Praxis Exam. |
