Professional Development Workshops

Every year, the STEM Center hosts STEM content workshops. These professional development workshops include training on use of a “kit” of appropriate manipulatives, a flash drive of lesson plans, and connection of the workshop to the Tennessee state standards. The content provided is designed with the TEAM rubric in mind to further aid in implementation in the classroom.

In the summer of 2016, the STEM Center led the following workshops:

  • Elementary STEM Workshop 1
  • Elementary STEM Workshop 2
  • Middle School STEM Math (at UT Martin and in Jackson)
  • High School STEM Math (at UT Martin and in Jackson)

For the summer of 2017, the STEM Center is planning both math and science workshops. The science workshops will be based on the new Tennessee science standard for implementation in the 2018-2019 school year but will also be connected to the old standards for the 2017-2018 school year.

Centralized Database of STEM Outreach Activities

UT Martin is an active place with faculty from many different colleges and departments engaging in STEM outreach for all ages. In an effort to promote and encourage these programs, we are putting together a list of STEM-related outreach activities. If you are involved in a STEM outreach program, please contact us and let us know.
