Work Force Analysis

In accordance with Federal requirements (Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs), The University of Tennessee at Martin's Work Force Analysis is included in this report as:

A.        Availability Factor Computation Information

The Availability Factor Computation Forms, pages 42 through 66, for The University of Tennessee at Martin, consist of a separate analysis for each equal employment opportunity category.  Every job title included in the category analysis is listed on the page following the analysis and includes EEO code, title code, and title description.

National, State, and Weakley County area data for completion of factors 1 through 5 for all categories were obtained from the 2000 U.S. Census Population EEO File prepared by the Bureau of the Census; Tennessee 2000 Census of Population EEO File; Weakley County, Tennessee, 2000 Census (EEO File); and the Tennessee Data for Affirmative Action Plans, 2008 Supplement.  For executive/administrative/managerial, faculty, and professional EEO categories, Tennessee data were used for factors 1 through 4 and national data for factor 5.  The University’s Work Force Analysis, October 2007, was used to complete both factors 6 and 8 of all reported categories.

The sources used to gather data for the availability factor computation for EEO-1 through EEO-3 for factor 7 are as follows:

1.  U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics Survey Report (IPEDS), Data on Doctoral Degrees, “Completion” Survey, 1992-98;

2.  National Science Foundation/Division of Science Resources Studies, Survey of Earned Doctorates, 1990-99.

For factor 7 for all other reported categories (EEO-4 through EEO-7), the following sources were used:

1.  Tennessee Technology Center at Newbern, 1999;

2.  Tennessee Technology Center at Paris, 1999; and,

3.  Donaldson Police Academy, 2000.

Value weights were assigned by giving consideration to possible promotion from within the University and to recruitment areas for positions at the University of Tennessee at Martin.  Raw statistics and weighted factors were then computed to obtain the final availability factor by EEO categories.  The source for internal data is the 2007 UTM Work Force Analysis.
