Clayton Arnold Teacher Training
This award is endowment funded. The amount of funding available for scholarships varies each year. To be eligible, students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA, live in one of the southern states (TN, AL, GA, MS, FL), and must be an education major. Preference should be given to students from a rural area. The funds from this scholarship are typically distributed among first-time freshmen, transfers, and returning students.
Arthur L. & Nell L. Sparks Math- $3000 ( 2 awards @ $1,500 each)
Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be a resident of Obion or Weakley County. First preference will be given to students who have graduated from Union City High School or Westview High School. All classification levels (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior) are eligible. This scholarship may be awarded to the previous year’s scholarship recipient, if they continue to meet scholarship criteria. Students previously awarded will only be considered if scholarship application is received by deadline.
Andrew Hart Teacher Education Scholarship- $600
Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be a Senior who will be student teaching in the fall or spring term, must be from Weakley County, and must be an Integrated Studies K-6 major. Recipient of this scholarship is selected by the donor.
Jean Cheatham McCollum- $1,000
Student must have a minimum of 2.8 GPA, be classified as a Junior or Senior, and must be an education major.
Billie Grace Goodrich- $ 4,000 (2 awards @ $2,000 each)
Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be classified as a Junior or Senior, must be an education major from Gibson County area.
J. Paul & Myrtle Phillips Education- $1,000
Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and major in education. All classification levels (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior) are eligible.
Jessa Coe Stanford- $1,800
Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and major in education. Freshman, Sophomore and Junior classifications will be considered. This scholarship is used to fund education seminar every other year at the request of the donor. AY 2012-13 is a scholarship year.
Maurice Field Middle Grades Science Scholarship- $1,250
Student GPA is considered and must be a Junior or Senior majoring in Integrated Studies 4-8 (Science concentration).
Paul and Sue Foote Mathematics $1,000
Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be a Mathematics Education major, and must be planning to pursue a career teaching math. All classification levels (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior) are eligible. This scholarship may be awarded to the previous year’s scholarship recipient, if they continue to meet scholarship criteria. Students previously awarded will only be considered if scholarship application is received by deadline.
Elizabeth Dilday Pentecost- $1,800
Student must be enrolled in graduate program and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. First preference will be given to a non-traditional graduate student with teaching experience taking a minimum of 6 hours of graduate coursework.
