MINUTES OF UNDERGRADUATE COUNCIL

Chair called the meeting to order at 3 pm and minutes of the previous meeting were approved as distributed.

OLD BUSINESS
Motion to remove the following items from the table carried.  Motion to approve
Art, Dance, Theatre
1. Revision of course desc for THEA 201-301 Theatre Production (1-2)

Biology
2. Revision of Biology major
3. Revision of number, credit hours, and course desc for BIOL 430 Cell Biology (3)
4. Addition of BIOL 431 Cell Biology Laboratory (1)

Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice
5. Deletion of CJ 390 (590) Security (3)
6. Revision of credit hours and course desc for CJ 480 Internship in Crim Just (3-6)
7. Revision of credit hours and course desc for SOC 480 Internship in Sociology (3-6)
Motion carried.

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION & BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice
Motion to approve
1. Revision of School Social Work Licensure requirements
2. Revision of cross listing for CJ 370 Juvenile Justice Process (3)
3. Revision of cross listing for SWRK 345 Social Work in Juvenile Justice: Legal Issues/Social Problems (3)
Motion carried.

OTHER
1. Wheeler reminded members of last year's consensus that for all proposals submitted to the UG council, there should be a departmental representative at the Council meeting prepared to answer any questions relating to their proposal.
2.      Wheeler overviewed that changes in procedures/approval channels are necessary because of the academic reorganization.  These procedures will be finalized in the coming weeks.
3.        Degree appeals committee reports for AY 99-00 were presented from the Schools of Arts & Sciences, Education, and Engineering.
