1. After much discussion Chesteen moved
that
A)
the Core Curriculum be addressed in three stages: 1) the concept and philosophy;
2) the details, i.e. what courses are included; and 3) the maintenance
and revision mechanism to keep the curriculum a dynamic entity;
B)
between now and the next Council meeting, members get feedback from colleagues
on the impact of core curriculum;
C)
a campus-wide open hearing be held before Council takes a vote; and
D)
each Council member bring a written statement from his/her respective dean/director
that adequate discussion has occurred.
Figgins seconded and motion
carried.
2. A called meeting to address the Core
Curriculum was scheduled for Tuesday, 9 March, 3 pm in EPS G2. Phil
Miller was requested to attend this meeting to answer any questions.
