UTM Scholarship Descriptions

University Scholars Program

  • $5,000 per year scholarship for each year of participation
  • $20,000 for four years
  • Minimum academic requirements for qualification are a 28 ACT and 3.5 GPA
  • Fifteen students selected by program directors are allowed into the program each year with a maximum of 60 students in the program at one time
  • Students must maintain a 3.3 cumulative grade point average to continue in the program and participate in a special ten-semester hour curriculum for University Scholar students
  • Students who successfully complete the program graduate with the distinction of "University Scholar"

Chancellor's Award

  • $3,000 per year scholarship for each year of participation
  • $12,000 for four years
  • Minimum requirements are 28 ACT and 3.5 GPA
  • Limited number of awards
  • February 1st admissions application deadline
  • To be eligible to continue the award, the student must have a 3.2 GPA at the end of two semesters and each Spring semester thereafter. Recipients must be full time students and participate in seminars and attend lectures with distinguished campus visitors.

Deans Scholarship

  • $1,500 per year scholarship for each year of participation
  • $6,000 for four years
  • Minimum requirements are 25 ACT and 3.5 GPA
  • Limited number of awards
  • February 1st admissions application deadline
  • To be eligible to continue award, the student must have a 3.0 GPA at the end of the two semesters and each Spring semester thereafter.
  • During the freshman year, students have the option of participating in seminars and attending public lectures with distinguished campus visitors (scholars, leaders, or artists)

Leaders-In-Residence

  • $1,000 for freshman year
  • Available to student council presidents, Beta Club, Honor Society President, Senior Class President and state officers in any student organizations and JROTC Battalion Commanders.
  • Students must meet regular admission requirements (20 ACT and 3.0 GPA)
  • No limit on number of awards
  • Must apply for admission before award can be made
  • Recipients must participate in a special leadership development program and live in residence halls. Students may compete for residence hall staff positions which are worth approximately $6,000 per year.

 UTM McWhorter Freshman Scholarship/Workship

  • $1,000 scholarship for the freshman year
  • Student must have a 20 ACT and 3.0 GPA
  • February 1st admissions application deadline
  • Limited number of awards
  • Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA

Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship

  • Must be recipient of Girl Scouts of America Gold Award
  • Must have 21 ACT  and 3.0 GPA minimum
  • $800 per year for four years
  • Must live in residence hall

Harold Conner Scholarship

  • $500 - $3,000 base award (specific guidelines are available)
  • This scholarship is available to Tennessee high school graduates.
  • To be eligible, students must have a minimum ACT of 21 and a 3.25 high school grade point average.
  • The Admissions Office, in conjunction with Student Financial Assistance Office, will make the selection from eligible applications for admission.
  • Awards will be made on the basis of the high school academic and leadership record and ACT score.
  • To be eligible to continue the award, the student must have a 3.0 GPA at the end of two semesters and each Spring semester thereafter. Recipients must be full time students and participate in seminars and attend lectures with distinguished campus visitors.
  • Preference will be given to students from underrepresented groups.
Music Scholarship
  • $300 - $750 per year
  • Limited to music majors
  • Awarded by audition
  • Renewable each academic year by meeting renewal criteria.

Band Scholarship

  • $300 - $1000 per year
  • Awarded by audition to students regardless of major
  • Renewable each academic year

Army R.O.T.C. Scholarships

  • The U.S. Army offers four, three, and two-year scholarships to qualified men and women on the merit basis. They pay for tuition, books, lab fees, and related academic expenses.
  • In addition, a tax free subsistence allowance of approximately $1,000 per year is provided to students who enroll in the advance course or for each year an ROTC scholarship is in effect.
  • In addition to the above, the University of Tennessee at Martin will provide three (3) four-year dormitory scholarships and three (3) three-year dormitory scholarships to recipients of the ROTC scholarships.

Student Alumni Scholarship

  • $2,000 award
  • Outstanding member of the Undergraduate Alumni Council (UAC)
  • 3.0 gpa
  • Selection process

Transfer Scholarship

  • $1,000 - $2,000 award
  • 3.5 gpa
  • Proven collegiate/community service activity
  • Proven leadership activity in college or community

Valedictorian Recognition Award

  • One-year award
  • $1,000 stipend
  • Minimun 23 ACT is required
