Jeremy Kolwinska is the Chair of the Department of Music and an Associate Professor of Trombone a the University of Tennessee at Martin. In addition, he has also taught classes such as Brass Methods, Masterpieces of Music, and Freshman Studies. Dr. Kolwinska is a faculty member at the Tennessee Governor's School for the Humanities. He has a research interest in the use of the trombone in the 18th Century, and his article "Pockets of Trombone Playing" was published in the July 2005 edition of the International Trombone Association Journal.
In addition to his responsibilities at UT Martin, Dr. Kolwinska is the second trombone in the Jackson Symphony and a member of a professional brass quintet called the Artisans in Brass. He also keeps a busy freelance schedule in the West Tennessee region. Dr. Kolwinska spent two summers playing saxhorns and other Civil-War era instruments in the First Brigade Band of Watertown, Wisconsin. He has also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra Brass Choir, the Lincoln Symphony, the Omaha Symphony, and the Orquesta Sinfonica UANL ( Monterrey, Mexico).
Dr. Kolwinska holds degrees from Bob Jones University, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Minnesota. His major teachers are Paul Overly, Scott Anderson, Thomas Ashworth, and Douglas Wright.
