Directions to the Fine Arts Building/Harriet Fulton Theater

Take I-40 east to Jackson, TN. Get off the interstate at exit 80-B, Highway 45 bypass north. You will be heading north out of Jackson towards Milan and Humboldt. About five miles from Jackson 45 splits into 45 W to Humboldt and 45 E to Milan. Take 45 E to Milan. Stay on 45 E all the way through Milan and past Bradford, through Greenfield, and past Sharon. About 55 miles from Jackson you will come to Martin. On the edge of town you will come to an interchange. Keep going straight, under the interchange, and on into Martin. You will come to a stop light with a grocery store on your left. Go straight again until you come to a second traffic light. At this light the street you are on dead-ends. Across the street is the First Baptist Church. Turn left, onto University Avenue. You will come to a traffic light with a BP on the corner. Keep going straight. The university is now on your left. You will go over a slight rise with the football stadium and parking lot on your right. Just past this on the left a street dead-ends into University. It is called Mt. Pelia. Turn left onto it. The first building on your left once you turn onto Mt. Pelia is the Fine Arts building. Just park in the lot right in front of the building and come on in.
Go north out of Jackson on 45 or 45 Bypass. Soon after 45 and 45 Bypass come together, 45 splits into 45 W to Humboldt and 45 E to Milan. Take 45 E to Milan. Go north out of Dyersburg on 51. As you come into Union City you will pass the big Walmart Supercenter on your left. Just past it the road curves around to the right and comes to a major three-way intersection. You can go straight onto highway 22 south or turn left and stay on 51. Go straight. This will take you on through Union City, past the hospital and out of town. On the east side of town when you come to the interchange stay on 22 by exiting right and going up and over the overpass. In about eight miles you will come to the first Martin exit. This is route 431. Get off here. This becomes a four lane surface street going through our fast-food/motel area. You will come to a stop light with McDonalds on your left and Days Inn on your right. Go straight, pass the UTM electronic bulletin board, and over a slight rise. Just over the rise a street comes in from your right (this is the first intersection since the stoplight). The street is called Mt. Pelia. Turn right. The first building on your left once you turn onto Mt. Pelia is the Fine Arts building. Just park in the lot right in front of the building and come on in.
Go west out of Nashville on I-40. Get off at Parkers Crossroads, exit 108. Turn right (north) onto highway 22. Highway 22 will take you all the way to Martin. About fifteen miles from the interstate you come to Huntingdon. Take the 22 bypass around it. After Huntingdon you stay on 22 until Martin. The last town before Martin is Dresden. At the edge of Martin you come to an interchange where you can either stay on 22 or exit left onto highway 431. Exit onto 431. (This becomes a two-lane surface street that is the main east-west street through Martin, so when in doubt just follow the signs for 431.) Come on into town. You will come to a four way stop with a flashing red light. Go straight. You will come to a stop light at the Methodist church. Go straight and over the railroad tracks just beyond the church. Just after the railroad tracks turn left immediately. Go one block and turn right. You are now on University Street. You will come immediately to a stoplight. Go straight. In another few blocks there is a flashing red light. Go straight. You will come to a third stop light just past Wendys and with a BP on the corner. Go straight. The university is now on your left. You will go over a slight rise with the football stadium and parking lot on your right. Just past this on the left a street dead-ends into University. It is called Mt. Pelia. Turn left onto it. The first building on your left once you turn onto Mt. Pelia is the Fine Arts building. Just park in the lot right in front of the building and come on in.
Go around Fulton on the Purchase Parkway and come into Tennessee. Just after the border the road splits: right to Union City, left to Martin. Go left. You will pass the South Fulton high school, and come to an intersection with an elementary school on the right. This is highway 45. Turn right (south). After a few miles you will cross the north fork of the Obion River. Just past this, highway 43 enters from the right. Turn right onto highway 43. In about a mile you will cross over highway 22. After one more mile you will come to a stop light with open fields on your left and McDonalds on your right. Turn left, onto University Street. Take US-45 South to the Julian M. Carroll Purchase Parkway. Take the Purchase Parkway South (toward Fulton). Go around Fulton on the Purchase Parkway and come into Tennessee. Just after the border the road splits: right to Union City, left to Martin. Go left. You will pass the South Fulton high school, and come to an intersection with an elementary school on the right.
