Minimum Requirements for Upper Division Auditions (after 4th semester of Lower Division study):

CLARINET

Technical Proficiency (by memory):
All major, melodic minor, natural minor and harmonic minor scales (E,F,Gb,G,Ab,A - 3 octaves) at quarter note = 104
All major and minor arpeggios at quarter note = 72
All major broken thirds at quarter note = 60
All diminished 7th chords and both whole tone scales at quarter note = 60
Tonguing exercise at quarter note = 116

Etudes:
One etude from Rose 32 Etudes, Rose 40 Etudes, Cavallini Caprices or Uhl etude book.

Solo:
Two complete works selected in consulation with instructor from the standard repertoire. Choices must demonstrate control of technique, control of tone and musical line, control of intonation, consistency of expression and articulation, etc. The student is responsible for knowing the historical setting of each piece as well as background information of the composer(s).
